Macquarie Group Foundation

Part of the Macquarie Group philosophy is that, since a company is a member of the society in which it operates, it follows that one of its responsibilities is to work for the betterment of that society. This thought drove Macquarie's early community support program, which was formalized in 1984 when the Macquarie Group Foundation was established.

The Macquarie Group Foundation is today one of the leading benefactors to the community sector. Our community support extends beyond the financial contributions we make, to the time and expertise given by Macquarie staff worldwide. Macquarie currently supports more than 900 community organizations around the world through grant-making, fundraising, workplace giving and volunteering.

Our focus

The Macquarie Group Foundation funds diverse community needs in the areas of health, education, the arts, welfare and the environment.

The Foundation places a priority on supporting organizations where staff are personally involved. We look for opportunities that are innovative and that are genuinely responsive to the community's needs. We focus on long-term partnerships with not-for-profit organizations providing financial support and leveraging the skills and expertise of Macquarie staff.

Staff in the community

The Foundation actively supports Macquarie staff pursuing their own community interests and passions through a range of policies, advice and resources.

Staff donation support

The Macquarie Group Foundation provides matching donations under our staff donation support policy. All permanent Macquarie staff are eligible to apply to the Foundation for a matching grant for personal donations and fundraising made to not-for-profit organizations. Applications for staff donation support must meet the criteria for funding by the Macquarie Group Foundation.

Staff participation support

Many Macquarie staff work for not-for-profit organizations in an executive capacity, serving as board members, providing strategic advice or taking on a management role. In recognition of their service, the Foundation makes a one-off grant to the community organizations they serve in this manner.

Community advisory committees

Community Advisory Committees, made up of staff in locations where Macquarie operates, meet regularly to hear about the Foundation’s latest programs, receive briefings from not-for-profit organizations and provide staff feedback on the Foundation’s community role.

Long service grants

Each year, more than 100 Macquarie staff reach milestones of 10 years or 25 years of service. In recognition of their long service, the Foundation makes a donation to a community organization of their choice.
