Alternative investments

Alternative investments are non-traditional investments. The most common examples are real estate, private equities (shares in companies that are not traded on public stock exchanges), venture capital, commodities (such as gold), and hedged or absolute return strategies.

Alternative investments are not directly correlated with traditional investments, so they increase the diversification of your portfolio. When the markets go down, for example, it is likely that the value of your alternative investments will go up.

Ask your Macquarie Private Wealth Investment Advisor for guidance on how alternative investments can help you grow and protect your wealth.
